Becoming a Member
Membership of GTCASA is offered in several categories:
To allow prospective members to easilly assess the value of our Saturday Club program, we have a Provisional Membership category. Provisional membership is included in the Saturday Club attendance fees however: - provisional membership expires at the end of Term in which it is taken out
- eligibility to continue attending Saturday Club is not automatic and is subject to our normal nomination procedure and becoming a full member
- a provisional membership form must be completed , endorsed by the referring professional (teacher, kindergarten director or psychologist) and returned at the first Saturday Club session your child attends
- a medical consent form must be completed and returned at the first Saturday Club session your child attends.
Family membership is open to the families of gifted and talented children. To be eligible to attend our student programs, children must be nominated and accepted. This is to ensure that our student programs continue to cater for the needs of gifted and talented children. To apply for family membership:
- download and print the Membership Application Form, as well as the appropriate Parent and Professional Nomination Forms (see links below).
- Complete and sign the Membership Application Form, and
- attach completed nomination forms
- accompany with payment of membership fee by cheque, money order or by providing credit card details.
- Post to the address specified on the membership form.
- When the application has been processed, you will be notified:
- if the application is successful, you will be sent a membership card
- if the application is not successful, your payment will not be processed and any cheques or money orders will be returned.
Please note: Saturday club volunteers are not able to assess student nominations, process applications (excepting provisional membership), or accept membership fees. Please apply early to allow plenty of time, so that your application may be processed in time for the student program you wish to access.
To refer your child to a GTCASA Student program: You will need to download (.pdf) two nomination forms. The Parent form should be filled in by a parent or guardian. There is a choice for the Professional form. It can be filled in by a teacher or kindergarten director who has worked with the child. Alternatively, if the child has had a psychological assessment the parents can send us a copy of the report or they can request that the psychologist sends us one direct. We regard the report as a confidential document and it will be treated as such. If there is a question regarding the child's ability to reach the level of achievement necessary to participate successfully in our student programs our committee member responsible for student nominations will contact either the parents or the school for further information.
